Enhancing Your Guest Experience in a sustainical way

Introduction Hospitality

Working in the IT industry has opened our eyes to the different policies, standards and norms that apply in different countries and institutions around the world. While we had the opportunity to learn, analyse and develop countless IT landscapes (link refer to references) in different industries, one topic stood out due to its eco-friendly philosophy and diligent focus on the future: sustainability.

Hospitality facilities and services have always been known for their high standards and quality of their services. This constant striving for perfection is reflected today above all in environmentally friendly companies and the pursuit of innovation for the guest. While the pursuit of perfection does not always translate into scale, there are a few steps that can be derived from the pursuit of perfection. Vacation rental companies around the world can take a cue from IT’s sustainability efforts combined with own AI inside and work to improve the experience for their customers and the environment.

It is becoming increasingly important for hospitality companies to integrate more environmentally conscious processes into their operational processes. According to Booking.com‘s Sustainable Travel Report 2022, 81% of travellers worldwide said that sustainable travel is important to them, with half of respondents citing climate change as an influencing factor in making better choices to protect the environment.

Moving towards sustainability

In an effort to cater to “greener” travellers and the planet, rental properties and hotels can replace older strategies with more positive initiatives. A good way to do this is to use greener products and energy-efficient appliances.

AI in hospitality

Through AI, hotels can provide round-the-clock assistance to guests, addressing their queries, handling reservations and even suggesting personalized recommendations.

Furthermore: Regulation cannot keep pace with many developments in the techno social world of work. In particular, gray areas are emerging in the development and use of artificial intelligence. Questions of data protection, copyright and responsibility pose immense challenges for companies. But not only in the IT world: with the increase in mobile or global working and business relationships, labour law and ethical issues are also increasingly being discussed. This is where sustainability comes in.
