Germany’s economy, politics and society discuss sustainability

Over the course of three days, from 11. to 13. December 2023, the first SustainableEconomySummit took place in Berlin at the AXICA event location

The event is being organised under the patronage of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection and is made possible by strong partnerships, including funding from the DBU Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt and Stiftung Mercator GmbH.

And there is one topic that cannot be missed so close to the festive season… Hardly any other industry is as exposed to the influence of political crises, the effects of climate change and new technologies as the tourism industry. And the rethinking of travellers is also making a significant contribution to the transformation of the industry.

Instead of leisure fun at the expense of our social and ecological environment, there are more and more providers offering sustainable alternatives that contribute equally to the recreation of people and nature.

At this year’s Sustainable Economy Summit the future of ecotourism and, in this context will be discussed, also highlighting the benefits offered by the possibilities of digitalisation such as:

In a panel with Manfred Häupl (Hauser Exkursionen International GmbH) and Antje Monshausen (Bread for the World), Petra Thomas (forum anders reisen e.V.) sheds light on corporate responsibility in the tourism sector. As in many other industries, the new technological achievements of our time are also shaping our holiday behaviour and the services offered by tourism providers.

In his workshop “Generative AI – a game changer in sustainable tourism”, Michael Katzlberger (Katzlberger Consulting GmbH) will use illustrative examples to show how this technology is shaping our future and can be used for ecological tourism strategies.

There’s no better time for a holiday than between the years. What does your sustainable holiday look like?
